APPLICATION - WELCOME
Many times we do not think about how to respond when we read a passage of scripture. Every scripture has a context. The context in a broad sense includes the whole Bible. It is in this sense that we know that the scriptures do not conflict with each other. Also in the broad sense, we find a subject discussed on different occasions so that, if we have a complete list of scriptures on a subjuct, we can learn all that the Bible has to say about it. There is also an immediate context which includes who is being addressed, what is being addressed, and where it is being addressed.
We certainly do not want to just pick up our Bibles, flip it open and then do what it says. How many after Noah built an ark designed to withstand a flood? No one I know has even considered building an ark. Yet we can learn from Noah. He was a just man, perfect or complete in his generation; he found grace in God's eyes. He did what God told him to. We can learn from Noah.
Making the proper application of a scripture involves a knowledge of it's context, an overall knowledge of God's word and a desire in one's heart to obey God. May those who read and consider these lessons be so blessed as to have a closer walk with God.
